SO WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO BE HONORING ANOTHER EAGLE SCOUT HERE IN WILEY. AND I FOUND OUT THAT LILLIAN ACTUALLY ACHIEVED HER EAGLE SCOUT IN EIGHTH GRADE, IF I'M TOLD CORRECTLY. IS THAT RIGHT? SO SHE HAS ACCOMPLISHED SO MUCH AT SUCH A RAPID ENDEAVOR. I KNOW MOST PEOPLE ARE LUCKY TO ACHIEVE THAT BY THE TIME THAT THEY FINISH HIGH SCHOOL. AND I KNOW THAT YOU HAD JUST AN AMAZING AND TOUCHING SERVICE PROJECT IN ORDER TO EARN THAT RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT, NOT ONLY DO YOU HAVE TO ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE IN MANY DIFFERENT AREAS, BUT YOU HAVE TO TAKE ON A PROJECT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY THAT BETTERS THAT COMMUNITY. SO I WILL LET YOU TELL US ABOUT THE PROJECT THAT YOU UNDERTOOK. AND I KNOW WE HAVE SOME PICTURES AS WELL. OKAY. THANK YOU. SO MY PROJECT WAS FOR GROVES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, WHICH IS A LOCAL SCHOOL HERE IN WILEY. I BUILT A SENSORY PATH, WHICH IS A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT TEXTURES ON THE GROUND SO THAT THE KIDS WITH SENSORY ISSUES OR SPECIAL NEEDS CAN GO AND FEEL IT SO THAT THEY CAN HELP BATTLE OVER STIMULATION AND OTHER BATTLES. YEAH. SO YOU WANT TO TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW YOU WENT ABOUT. SO BASICALLY YOU CAN SEE THERE IT'S LIKE A BIG WOODEN FRAME WITH A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT TEXTURES.

THERE'S LIKE TURF, THERE'S RIVER ROCK, PVC PIPE, LIKE ALL THAT STUFF. SO IT TOOK A LOT OF PLANNING, A LOT OF MATH TO GET ALL THE RIGHT. LIKE, OH MY GOD, WHERE'S THE WORD MEASUREMENTS? AND TO RESEARCH LIKE WHAT'S BENEFICIAL FOR THEM. SO GETTING MY SUPPLIES, I WROTE TWO LETTERS TO HOME DEPOT AND TO LOWE'S SO THAT I COULD SEE IF I COULD BENEFIT AND USE LESS OF MY FUNDRAISING MONEY SO THAT I COULD DONATE MORE TO THE SCHOOL. AND I ACTUALLY GOT A LOT OF A LOT OF DONATIONS FROM BOTH STORES. SO THAT HELPED MY FUNDRAISING A LOT, AND I WAS ABLE TO GIVE BACK SO MUCH MORE TO THE SCHOOL. THAT'S AMAZING WORK. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. SO AS YOU CAN TELL FROM HER EXPLANATION OF THE PROJECT, IT'S NOT SIMPLY GOING AND SPENDING A LITTLE BIT OF TIME PUTTING SOMETHING TOGETHER, FINDING A COOKIE CUTTER SOLUTION ONLINE. SHE COMPLETED THE FUNDRAISING, REACHED OUT TO GET DONATIONS, AND THEN GOES AND DOES THE WORK HERSELF. LOOKED LIKE YOU HAD A COUPLE OF HELPERS THERE, BUT IT REALLY IS A FULL LABOR OF LOVE AND JUST ENJOY SEEING THIS AMONG THE YOUTH IN OUR COMMUNITY. IN A WORLD THAT IS OVERLY FOCUSED ON SELF, TAKING THE TIME TO BECOME A LEADER AND PROVIDE SERVANT LEADERSHIP IS SO IMPORTANT, AND IT'S SO GREAT TO SEE IN THOSE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY WHO WILL BE THE NEXT GENERATION, BECAUSE ONE DAY ALL OF US IN THIS ROOM, EXCEPT, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE SOME YOUNGER, YOUNGER INDIVIDUALS HERE THIS EVENING, BUT ALL OF US WILL MOVE ON. WE'LL TRANSITION AND HAND THE REINS OFF TO THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS. AND SEEING THOSE QUALITIES AND THOSE TRAITS BEING DEVELOPED THAT MAKE GOOD LEADERS IN THE FUTURE. AND WHEREAS THIS ACHIEVEMENT CARRIES WITH IT GREAT HONOR AND A COMMITMENT TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND TO SERVE AS A GUIDE AND ROLE MODEL FOR BOTH COMMUNITY AND NATION.
