WELL, IF I RESCUING OUR AMBULANCE ARRIVED AT THE CALL, UM WAS 28 MINUTES AND SO THE THESE ARE VERY UNUSUAL SCENARIOS THAT NORMALLY WHEN WE HAVE THESE TYPE OF CALLS, THE OUTCOMES ARE NOT GOOD. IN FACT, 91% OF THE TIME. UM THEY THEY DON'T END LIKE THIS. AND SO, UH, I. I THINK IT GOES TO SHOW THAT THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION HAS COINED THE PHRASE UM, THE CHAIN OF SURVIVAL AND WHAT THAT IS, AND I JUST WANNA I WANNA GO THROUGH WHAT AMERICAN HEART IS. SAYS. WE'VE CREATED A CAREER PATH FOR THEM TO GO FROM AN EMT TO A PARAMEDIC TO A FIREFIGHTER PARAMEDIC. AND SO WITH THAT CAREER PATH, OBVIOUSLY WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO HAVE SOME TURNOVER IN EMS, AND THAT'S GOING TO BE DIFFICULT. UM AND THAT'S SOMETHING WE'LL HAVE TO MANAGE AND WORK THROUGH. BUT AS WE GET BIGGER AT SOME POINT, WE WILL HAVE TO HAVE AN EXTRA PERSON. SO THE GOAL IN DISPATCH IS TO GO TO THREE PERSON STAFFING EVERY DAY, 24 HOURS A DAY, WITH ONE SUPERVISOR ON EACH SHIFT TO DO THAT. WELL, LET ME BACK UP. THE GOAL IS TO HAVE FOUR PEOPLE 11 RELIEF DISPATCHER ASSIGNED TO EACH SHIFT. SO THREE IS OUR MINIMUM MANNING. THAT WOULD BE A FOUR ASSIGNED TO EACH SHIFT. THERE'S FOUR SHIFTS SO IT TAKES 16 OF THEM. UM ADDING A SUPERVISOR IS JUST ONE WOULD, UH, WOULD ACCOMPLISH THAT. AND SO THAT'S THAT'S WHAT WE'VE PUT IN EVERY YEAR. UM FOR THAT POSITION, UM, 11 THING THAT I THINK IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THERE. WE HAVEN'T FUNDED A DISPATCHER SINCE 2008 2009 BECAUSE OUR GROWTH HAS BEEN ABSORBED AND PAID FOR BY THE OTHER CITIES THAT HAVE COME ON BOARD WITH US. UM, WE DID THAT IN 2008. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO MONEY. WE WERE TRYING TO GET CREATIVE BECAUSE THE CITY WAS STILL GROWING AND AS WE CONTINUE TO GROW UM, THERE WAS NO MONEY TO HIRE DISPATCHERS, BUT WE WERE SHORT STAFFED, AND SO SOME OF THE OTHER FIRE DEPARTMENTS AROUND US. SOME OF THE OTHER CITIES NEEDED THAT, UM, NEEDED THAT SERVICE. AND SO PART OF THAT SERVICE PART OF THE AGREEMENT WITH WITH COUNCIL AND CITY MANAGEMENT AT THE TIME WAS WE HIRED A DISPATCHER. SO THEY PAY FOR AN ALL IN COST OF A DISPATCHER. THEY DON'T UTILIZE 100% OF THAT DISPATCHER, AND SO IT MAKES OUR COMMUNICATION CENTER BETTER. BETTER BENEFITS OUR CITIZENS. PLUS IT'S THE PEOPLE WHO MUTUAL AID WITH SO WE CAN GET THEM BACK TO WILEY QUICKER. SO UM, THAT'S BEEN A GREAT UH, EVERYBODY IS VERY HAPPY WITH OUR DISPATCH CENTER. BECAUSE THE DELIVERY TIME UM I FEEL LIKE WE PROBABLY NEED TO PUT ONE IN THE BUDGET EVERY MONTH. I MEAN, I'M SORRY EVERY YEAR EVERY MONTH. I WAS GONNA SAY I HEARD THAT I WENT.
