TEST. TEST. WE'VE LEARNED TO TEST IT BECAUSE THE COUPLE OF MEETINGS AGO IT CAME OUT AND IT WAS LOUD ENOUGH TO SHAKE THE ROOM.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE LIKE TO DO THROUGH THE CITY AND THROUGH THE MAYOR'S OFFICE IS GIVING YOUNG PEOPLE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE AS JUNIOR MAYOR OR MAYOR FOR THE DAY WITH US. TRISTAN RHODES IS ONE OF THOSE WHO HAS SERVED.

AND WE HAD THE HONOR OF ACTUALLY GOING TO HIS SCHOOL AND SPENDING A LITTLE BIT OF TIME WITH HIM BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR AND BEING ABLE TO PRESENT THIS PROCLAMATION TO HIM. THIS WAS DONE THROUGH SUPPORT OF THE PTA.

SO THE CITY DOESN'T DO THIS AS A WAY TO TRY TO RAISE MONEY FOR ITSELF.

WE OFTEN DONATE THESE ITEMS TO THE FFA, TO A PTA GROUP, TO THE FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION, AS A WAY FOR THEM TO PUT IT IN ONE OF THEIR SILENT AUCTIONS OR IN A LIVE AUCTION AT THEIR AT THEIR DISCRETION TO BE ABLE TO RAISE MONEY FOR SOME OF THEIR PHILANTHROPIC ENDEAVORS THAT THEY UNDERTAKE.

AND SO OBVIOUSLY IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO GET TO MEET YOUNG PEOPLE.

AS I MENTIONED, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET AND HE SHOWED UP WITH A BINDER READY TO GO WITH TYPED OUT QUESTIONS IN ORDER THAT HE WANTED TO GO THROUGH FOR ME.

THESE WERE NOT SOFTBALL QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT MY FAVORITE COLOR WAS OR WHERE I LIKE TO GO OUT TO EAT.

HE WANTED TO KNOW HOW WE GET BETTER DIVERSITY IN OUR RESTAURANT OPPORTUNITIES.

WHAT IS IT THAT ALLOWS A BUSINESS TO COME INTO THE CITY?

WHAT ARE OUR PLANS ON SOME OF THE DIFFERENT STREETS IN THE CITY FOR REPAIRS AND UPGRADES? HE CAME HARD HITTING, BUT I DON'T MIND THAT.

AND IT'S ACTUALLY ENCOURAGING TO SEE OUR YOUTH TAKE AN INTEREST IN GOVERNMENT AND NOT AT A SURFACE LEVEL, BUT A TRUE INTEREST IN BEING ABLE TO LEARN MORE AND TO PARTICIPATE.

BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY, ALL OF US IN THIS ROOM ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO GET OLDER.

AND IT IS THOSE FUTURE GENERATIONS WHO WILL BE THE LEADERS OF THE FUTURE FOR THIS CITY LONG AFTER WE'RE RETIRED OR STILL WORKING, BUT OUT IN THE COMMUNITY AGAIN AND NOT VOLUNTEERING IN THESE ROLES UP HERE.

AND SO AGAIN, IT'S GREAT TO SEE PEOPLE TAKE THAT INTEREST.

SO WITH THAT, UNLESS THERE'S SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD.

WHEREAS TRISTAN RHODES HAS THE PRIVILEGE TO BE HONORARY MAYOR FOR THE DAY IN THE CITY OF WYLIE AND EXPERIENCE THE DUTIES OF THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR BY JOINING MAYOR PORTER AND THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE DAIS FOR A CITY COUNCIL MEETING WILL LET HIM OUT BEFORE IT ENDS.

WHEREAS TRISTAN RHODES EARNED THE RIGHT TO BE MAYOR FOR THE DAY THROUGH HIS SUPPORT OF THE WYLIE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, DAVIS INTERMEDIATE PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION.

AND. WHEREAS, TRISTAN RHODES IS A PROUD DAVIS INTERMEDIATE PIRATE IN THE SIXTH GRADE WHO ENJOYS SWIMMING, TENNIS AND PLAYING VIDEO GAMES WITH HIS FRIENDS.

WHEREAS, TRISTAN RHODES IS KNOWN AS AN AVID READER, A DEEP THINKER AND HARD WORKER WHO IS ALWAYS INTERESTED IN EXPLORING, DISCOVERING AND LEARNING NEW THINGS.

AND. WHEREAS, TRISTAN RHODES IS A STUDENT OF TODAY AND A LEADER OF TOMORROW.

SO WE ARE VERY PROUD TO HAVE AN AMAZING PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT HERE IN THE CITY.

THEY COMPLETE AND DO SO MANY THINGS FOR US.

WE HAVE AN AWARD WINNING REC CENTER THAT HAS RECENTLY UNDER CARMEN'S WATCH AND EVERYONE THERE AT THE FACILITY UNDERTAKEN A LITTLE BIT, I SAY, OF AN OVERHAUL. THEY'VE BEEN ABLE TO OFFER SOME NEW PROGRAMS AND NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO OUR CITIZENS HERE IN WYLIE.

WE HAVE A DOG PARK THAT IS ON ITS WAY TO THE CITY, AS WELL AS TWO SPLASH PADS.

AND JUST TO GIVE ADDITIONAL KUDOS TO OUR STAFF HERE, WHEN THOSE BIDS CAME BACK, WE GOT ONE BID FOR OUR SPLASH PADS.

THAT BID WAS OVER BUDGET.

RATHER THAN SAYING, WELL, WE CAN'T DO IT OR COMING BACK AND ASKING FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDS.

THEY STEPPED UP AND SAID, WELL, WHY DON'T WE FUNCTION AS THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR FOR THIS? WHY DON'T WE PUT IN THAT WORK SO THAT WE CAN SAVE THE MONEY, GET THE PROJECTS DONE WITH THE ADDITIONS THAT WE WANT, AND DO IT ALL WITHIN BUDGET.

YES. YEAH. CLAP.

THAT'S. THAT'S GREAT.

AND. ANSWERS.

AND THAT'S THE KIND OF OUT OF THE BOX THINKING THAT REALLY MAKES SURE THAT EVERYONE'S TAX DOLLARS GO AS FAR AS THEY CAN, THAT MAKE SURE THAT THEY CAN PROVIDE THE MOST AMENITIES

AND HERE DURING PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH, IT'S A CHANCE TO HONOR THEM, TO HONOR ALL OF THEIR STAFF, WHETHER THAT'S THE INDIVIDUALS WORKING AT THE REC CENTER, WHETHER THAT'S THE GUYS WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO BE IN THIS MONTH, WHO ARE OUT CUTTING GRASS AND MAKING SURE THAT THE PRACTICE FIELDS AND FIELDS THAT YOUR KIDS PLAY ON ARE STAYING IN GOOD CONDITION.

THEY PUT IN A LOT OF LONG HOURS, AND I KNOW IT'S A LABOR OF LOVE FOR THEM.

AND SO I'D LIKE TO GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO INTRODUCE THEMSELVES, TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT THEY DO WITH THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT OR ON THE BOARD.

AND I MET TWO SISTERS WHO WHOSE PARENTS HAD SOLD THEM INTO EXPLOITATION TO HELP THEIR THEIR FAMILY FINANCIALLY.

AND IT WAS IT REALLY CHANGED THE COURSE OF MY LIFE AND MADE A HUGE IMPACT ON ME.

AND I KNEW THAT THESE LADIES WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN THIS PLACE.

AND SO IT STARTED ME ON A JOURNEY TO JUST SIMPLY FIND OUT WHAT COULD I DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES AND TO SEE CHANGE.

AND SO WE STARTED JUST A SIMPLE JEWELRY PROJECT THAT WAS TRAINING WOMEN IN THE SITUATION HOW TO MAKE JEWELRY IN INDIA.

WE STARTED IN INDIA AND GIVE THEM A FAIR, FAIR WAGE FOR THEIR FOR THEIR WORK.

AND THEN THROUGH THESE YEARS, WE'VE DISCOVERED THAT THE PROFITS FROM THE SALE OF THEIR JEWELRY, WE THEN GIVE BACK TO HELP THEM GO TO COLLEGE, BECAUSE OFTEN TIMES AS THEY ENTER THEIR EARLY 20S, THEY'RE AT RISK AGAIN OF BEING EXPLOITED.

SO WE PARTNER WITH SAFE HOUSES AROUND THE WORLD.

WE STARTED IN INDIA, BUT THEN WE'VE ADDED UGANDA AND THAILAND.

WE SELL ITEMS THAT ARE HANDMADE AROUND THE WORLD BY PEOPLE THAT ARE AT RISK OF EXPLOITATION OR THOSE WHO'VE BEEN RESCUED.

AND WE'RE ALSO EMPOWERING THE CITIZENS OF WYLIE TO TO BUY GOODS THAT ACTUALLY SERVE A PURPOSE, TO HELP THOSE THAT ARE AT RISK. SO A FAIR TRADE.

AT PURCHASE AND WE BEGAN HOLDING A BENEFIT DINNER IN 2020, AND WE STARTED HOSTING THAT DINNER IN PRINCETON AT THE REEVES FAMILY FARM.

AND WE'VE BEEN DOING THAT THE LAST FEW YEARS.

SO THREE YEARS WE'VE BEEN HOSTING THIS BENEFIT DINNER AND IT'S BEEN A FARM TO TABLE DINNER.

BUT RECENTLY WE JUST HAVE DESIRED TO BRING THIS DINNER TO OUR OWN COMMUNITY.

WE LOVE WYLIE.

THIS IS OUR HOME.

WE'RE HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL AND WE JUST HAVE HAD A DESIRE TO NOT BE IN ANOTHER CITY 30 MINUTES AWAY, BUT ACTUALLY TO BE PART OF JUST HOSTING A DINNER HERE.

CONVERSELY, UPSIDE SCENARIO RAISE THE RATING IF ONGOING ECONOMIC EXPANSION, COUPLED WITH ROBUST JOB OPPORTUNITIES, LEADS TO STRONGER PER CAPITA MARKET VALUES AND INCOMES. WE CAN WE CONSIDER SIMILAR TO THOSE OF HIGHER RATED PEERS, ALL WHILE MAINTAINING STRONG FINANCES.
